Plump presents June Bloom
The 5 Year Anniversary Party!
June 26th, 2010
9:30pm – 4:30am
Five Years? No Way!
Way. Five years of Plumpy goodness! From scrappy upstart to reliable haven of flavor…when exactly was the tipping point? Who cares! Here we are now, still doing what we do for you: rock the party like only we know how. For the Big Cinco, we welcome badasses Wolfie and Blue back to our stage, and get a first time appearance from West Side beatslingers Saadhu and Loomer!
The hugely popular lounge that Jacques the Ripper has been hosting will be back with a vengeance, sexier than before…if that’s possible. And guest curating in the gallery is Deb Vogt and Mike Russek, fresh off the amazing show they put together at Lightning in a Bottle. Plus expect some eclectic musical excursions and live music in the gallery.
For our anniversary we’ll have some special gifts and surprises for you. We couldn’t have lasted all these years without our amazing Plumpers! We’re lookin’ forward to seeing all you guys come out big in your flower outfits!

Lightning in a Bottle Returns – Exceptional Art and Music Festival
Only a Southern California dance, art, and music festival can feature Daedelus and downward facing dog, but that’s exactly what the fifth annual Do LaB Lightning in a Bottle art and music festival will offer when it takes over 100+ acres of Irvine, California’s Oak Canyon Ranch over Memorial Day weekend.
The four-day, three-night festival bills itself as “equal parts music, art and green workshops.” Accordingly, those drawn to bone-crunching bass and funky rhythms can choose from over 90 artists including Booka Shade, The Album Leaf, The Glitch Mob, The Very Best, Daedelus, Daddy Kev, and Nosaj Thing.
Lightning in a Bottle will also feature a set from Krystee, the winner of the festival’s mix-tape contest that found DJ’s from across America looking for a chance to perform by submitting tapes using only Lightning in a Bottle acts.
Attendees can also explore other options, via green-living workshops that offer “practical, do-it-yourself lessons on creating a healthy, low-cost, sustainable lifestyle.” The workshops included “Small Space Container Gardening,” “How to Make Raw Chocolate” and “Growing & Using Medicinal Herbs.” Those looking to loosen up after three nights in a sleeping bag can increase their elasticity via an array of yoga courses taking place throughout the day.
An Art Festival as Much as a Music Festival
The artistically inclined may find solace in the festival’s art gallery, installation pieces, or its Lightning in a Paintcan Project, during which local artists will transform over-sized mural panels into paintings using recycled paint. The finished pieces will be sold in a silent auction, with proceeds going to Sonic Muze, a nonprofit group that provides underfunded schools with music instruments and art supplies. With three-day passes available for $190 (including camping), the festival figures to bring enough stimulation so that everyone will need to say Savasana by Monday night.

A Thank You from Forever for LiB
It’s been two weeks since LIB and we can still hardly believe what we got to see and experience and learn under those oak trees. We keep hearing the echoes of beats. We keep seeing flashes of so many radiant smiling faces. We keep feeling the ground shake with the magnificent force of daring minds and dancing feet. We are forever grateful.
It is YOU who helped to make LIB08 a truly life-changing experience, and for this we offer our gratitude not just with words, but with images! Check out the faces on the LIB08 Thank You page, and add your own. ~ Pass it on…

After midnight expect special surprises, acoustic jam sessions and other fun stuff to carry the festival through the night. And there’s no need to dash out on Monday. The gates close Tuesday at noon, so you’re free to stick around ’til then and enjoy the forest!
Camping for the entire event is included in the weekend pass ticket price. There will be plenty of space in the grass and under the trees for setting up your campsite. There is no camping for day passes.
Keep your stuff safe! For your convenience and for the safety of your valuables, there will be lockers available to rent at LIB.
Vehicle Camping at LiB
There is a very limited amount of vehicle camping space available on the festival grounds. If you want to camp with your vehicle, you will need to have purchased a car camping pass, which are now sold out. For those not camping with their vehicle, there will be bio-diesel shuttles to drive you and your camping gear into the site.
A limited amount of RV camping is available for $75 per RV. All RV’s must purchase passes in advance through our online ticketing page starting April 2nd. RV passes are now sold out! If you haven’t already purchased an RV camping pass, please leave your RV at home. We will have limited space in the parking lots and RV camping will not be available in these or any other areas without an RV camping pass.
Parking at Lightning in a Bottle
We will have secure parking near the festival entrance for your vehicles and you will be able to access them throughout the duration of the event. Parking in the general lot is free.
Workshops are FREE throughout the weekend!
Our vending village is located at the center of the festival grounds and offers a wide variety of community made goods including clothing, jewelry, hula hoops and more. It’s much better than your daily trip to the mall, so take advantage of the opportunity and get some of the best goods of the year. Some old food vending favorites and a handful of new ones will be preparing meals for us at LIB this year. You can expect a wide variety of organic vegetarian food choices to enjoy throughout the festival. 3 meals a day, consider it covered!
??? This is an all ages event, anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
??? Underage drinking and illegal drug use is NOT permitted! Non-compliance with this could jeopardize the future of LIB.
??? Amplified sound is not permitted in camping areas! Please leave your sound systems at home.
??? Dogs and other pets are NOT allowed. If you show up with a dog, you will not be admitted into the event. Elephants and giraffes are ok.
??? LIB is STRONGLY encouraging pre-cycled trash and pack-it-in/pack-it-out practices for the weekend. Less trash really does equal more fun!
??? Since there are no lifeguards on duty and there is also a no-drowning rule at LIB, absolutely NO ONE is allowed in the river! Individuals caught in the river may be fined by the rangers on site and could jeopardize LIB???s ability to use the location in the future.
??? LIB guests with allergies (and those without) should be aware that there are bees, wasps, poison oak, and the occasional rattlesnake at the location.
Have fun! See you at Lightning in a Bottle!
